23 March Sea Day Number Three

Updated: Mar 27, 2022

With no port today, we continue onto Montevideo, Uruguay. I went to the gym and realized I missed the weather balloon launch that was cancelled several weeks ago. The crew drill was pretty exciting NOT. As usual we play Team Trivia wherever it is offered. We tied for first again. The big stumper was: what timepiece has the most moving parts?? Only one team got the correct answer.

Following trivia was a lecture by one of the favorites, Dr. Daniel Moore, the marine biologist. His delivery and enthusiasm for the subject matter makes everyone want to listen. Today’s subject was the Blue Deserts, the oceans and their depths. We passed on the Farewell Reception since we are not going anywhere. Before this we would not have expected to look forward to a lecture, by a British professor on the ocean. Dr. Moore is an excellent speaker, who makes the subject come alive. Fifty percent of the world’s oxygen comes from proto plankton in the ocean. Who knew? This and other facts accompanied by photos to illustrate, taken during this cruise make the 45-minute presentation fly by.

Had dinner with friends and then enjoyed the entertainment manager’s solo performance of show tunes, etc., ending in My Way. Just a nice relaxing day.
