We're Off!!

We have arrived safely in Miami with only one slight hitch that in the end had no impact. Washington Flyer showed on about 10 minutes early. I was still finishing up a few things so he got to load all four bags and two carry-ons on his own. Nice considering how warm it was this morning. He was just as capable on arrival at Dulles and a skycap was tight there to take us and our bags to check-in.

The hitch-- Apparently when Viking booked our tickets they "didn't do it right." It took two agents 15 minutes to get it sorted out. Usually we are the people standing in line behind people who have these kind of problems. In the end all was resolved, bags checked and off to security.

Security was a very pleasant surprise. No lines, dare I say cheerful TSA agents. Almost like the good old days. We were denied entrance into the United Club. Only International First Class travelers get in. Domestic First Class get to sit with the hoi polloi, but still get to board first.

Our Untied Airlines snack was atrocious. Processed chicken slices on focaccia with melted cheese. The sodium content was 50% of the daily requirement. Flight Attendant didn't bat an eye when I returned this monstrosity with only a small bite of chicken missing. She did keep my glass full of apple juice to compensate.

All luggage arrived safely. Shuttle to hotel was fast as was room check-in. We cooled off a little, lightened Karla's travel purse and headed for Cafe La Trova, in Little Havana via Uber. Fortunately The Wall Street Journal reviewed and noted the best Mojitos in Miami. This was the closest to our hotel. Not only were the drinks outstanding, but the bar food was great. Empanadas, Fritura De Malanga, (a mashed and fried taro root like dish), and pork sliders. Oh so very, very good and filling too.

Uber back to the hotel where we looked at the Viking arranged buffet dinner, but settled for a glass of wine and a cup of tea. Talked with a retired postal worker from Los Angeles and his wife, and a cattle rancher from Texas.

All-In-All a very good start for the day. The bar food and drinks completely erased any thought of ..... See I can't even remember.
