4 April Sea Day Ten Science Trivia

Kind of a lazy morning. Some gym time for Rick. I took advantage of an early morning and did the laundry. No one else in sight and the launderette is almost right across the hall.

Lots of bird talks and bird watching being offered. Not attending any. I think the Whale Workshop might have been a good one to experience. Seems the Mammal Specialist Tess used lengths of rope to display an actual measurement of animals. Attendees were asked to guess the length of the blue whale. Lots of answers were tossed out. Tess handed the beginning of the rope length to someone in my trivia group and started walking and walking and walking. That mammal can grow to be 100 meters long. It was a good hands-on class and I missed it.

Today was science trivia day and some of the questions were really tough. What were the elements identified by Aristotle? The guys won and tied the ladies. Wind, Weather and Waves was a lecture offered by two of the outstanding scientists on board: Dr. Daniel Moore and Dr. Samuel Mitchell. They talk at a level that is easily understood and though some of the information overlaps, it’s usually a good fit when they are share a lecture. It also prepped us for the weather balloon launch tomorrow.

We did our regular before dinner visit to the Explorers Lounge for a drink and to listen to the Duo James and Dani.

So far the only Nebraska grad on this leg. Did meet one man from the Nebraska panhandle
