21 April Sea Day Nineteen Popcorn

Because we were late out of New York we missed Louisburg and the opportunity to sail through the Cape Cod Canal. Instead we sailed rather rapidly, 18kts, over some fairly boisterous seas to make our scheduled arrival time in Charlottetown, Canada. As a result is was a typical sea day schedule, gym, trivia and a first for us, popcorn and a movie.

We think the constant motion of the ship in rougher seas, while it doesn’t make us feel ill, it is wearing. At least that’s our story. We slept in today until 1000 and didn’t leave the room until noon. It was just a cloudy, lazy, kind of day.

Once we got going trivia was better, we were third with all three Missouri couples playing. What color was George Washington’s hair? We augmented the effort with sparkling wine toasts on every right answer. Viking provides a bottle to every repeat customer on one couple graciously donated theirs to the cause.

Dinner presented a particular conundrum. Lamb chops or osso buco? Risotto or pasta? No doubts on the red wine braised onions or Greek style potatoes. When life places these difficult decisions before you it is best to remember you are on a cruise and take some of each. The gym will be open tomorrow. Karla showed great restraint as her plate shows. BTW-She doesn’t like lamb and is not a big fan of osso buco.

Karla is so virtuous

We attended our first movie in the Aula. Although we had seen No Time To Die, the aroma of popcorn was too strong to resist.
