17 April Sea Day Sixteen Easter Services and Trivia Victory

The morning started off with Easter Services in the Aula with a grey ski and ocean in the background. It was a nice service with 50 to 60 in attendance. We weren’t familiar with the two hymns sung, but the guy sitting behind us knew the second one quite well and had a great voice.

After we headed for breakfast. I had the first pancakes of the trip. My resistance finally failed me. Karla has taken to making salmon, cream cheese, caper and chopped purple onion sandwiches with a slice a bacon on the side. We’re in for some big changes when we get home.

I am really engaged in Kathy Wallman’s book. Have put it aside until now saving it for the sea days coming after New York.

The guys won overall at trivia today, beating the women and all the other teams. What mountain has its peak furthest from the center of the earth? Karla and I will have to interview the new people boarding in New York. All the current team members are leaving us for home.

Today’s lecture was about the SS Central America that sunk with California gold off the coast of the Carolinas. Its Captain was William Herndon. Yes, our Herndon Virginia, Captain Herndon. Who knew? The wreck was discovered and part of its now billion dollars’ worth of gold recovered. The successful leader of the initial effort tried to stiff his investors and is now in his seventh year of prison.

Now packing for the room switch and early wake-up for the entry into New York. Internet has been slow all day with people verifying departure times and finalizing their trips home.
